Basketball Positions and Roles
Basketball positions and roles are the most important
elements. Each of positions
has specific roles such as hook shoots and clear visibility
to see empty spaces. Basketball is not an
individual game, it requires cooperation as a team. There
are five players per team in a basketball
and each player plays a specific position on court.
1. Center
The center is generally the tallest guy who is positioned near the basket and center has to be able
to jump as high as possible to the get rebounds. Moreover, it requires physical strength to go near
to the basket. On offense, the center is required to block defenders for shooter to shot easier, and the
center is expected to get some rebounds.

2. Power Forward
The power forward is somewhat similar with center. The power forwards are usually the next
tallest players in the team, who are closest to the center and have similar playing styles with the
center. Moreover, power forwards must be strong to do a lot of physical play, for they have to be
an effective rebounders.

3. Small Forward
The small forward should be able to guard against larger athletic opponents who can score from
inside or outside. Furthermore, there are more skills, which are required for small forwards to do
such as some dribble skills, shoots from the outside and inside.

4. Shooting Guard
The shooting guard is the shortest player in the team. However, he must be good at dribbling fast to
bring the ball to set up offensive plays. Moreover, he has to takes the most of shots and three point
shots. In addition, clear visibility is an important condition for him to make an accurate passes.

Point Guard
The point guard requires the best ball handler. The point guard usually handles the ball and pass the
ball to teammates. Point guard needs to have a good long distance shooting which is similar with
shooting guard.
